Here’s what I tweeted on Sunday:
Facebook should implement the ability to tag venues in pics as the location where they were taken
And here’s what Facebook rolled out today.
Starting today, Facebook users will be able to tag Pages in their photos. Page tagged photos will adhere to a user’s privacy settings, and will only appear on a Page’s Photos tab if set to be visible to everyone. Initially, Facebook is only allowing Pages categorized as “Brands & Products” or “People” to be tagged, but it says it is “looking to expand this functionality to more Page categories over time.”
Small caveat: I said venues (Places), not Pages. Of course, all Pages have an admin by definition, whereas the same isn’t true for Places. This makes Pages better candidates for tagging because they already have an admin to moderate the pics. And, of course, you can merge a Page with a Place by owning the former and legitimately claiming the latter anyway.
